How to Choose Your Golf Club
It’s not easy to choose a golf club. Not only is there a seemingly endless variety of clubs available, but choosing the right ones is a matter of finding the best fit for your body and your game. The golf club that makes one person play like a superstar could leave you hunting through the rough. So before you shop, take stock of your game. Know what you need to improve, then choose golf clubs that will help you reach your goal.
Head size
The three variables to consider when choosing golf clubs are head size, shaft material and flex. Golf club heads are differentiated by size. Standard-sized heads are the easiest to control, but offer the smallest “sweet spot” on the striking surface. Mid-sized club heads are larger and heavier and have a bigger sweet spot. Oversized heads are the largest of the three, and while they have the biggest sweet spot, they can also be the most difficult to control, because the added weight can pull you out of your swing.
Here, you’ll want to think about how you address the ball. A larger sweet spot will give you more power and compensate for a swing that’s a little off.
